Being emo, there's really no way of knowing for sure that they're girls.
The emo boys emulate the girls in every way, such as: feminine hair, tight pants, makeup, kissing boys, female genitalia, or even no genitalia at all (there are no penises in the emo community, as no one with male genitals would subject them to the stomach wrenching pressure on the testes that would come from wearing girl pants.)
